Photography Competition

Flashy Photographers Awarded

The 2021 What’s Your Angle? Photography Competition wrapped up on October 15 and this year, one winner in particular caught the eye of the competition’s new judge.

Having the unenviable task of deliberating over 111 images, first time judge Naomi, of Naomi Rice Photography said this year’s Most Outstanding Print captured her from the moment she walked in the door.

It was Anne Lasini’s ‘Shearing Shed’ that took out the top honours, and Anne also received four other prizes for her entries this year.

"I’m still in a bit of shock with the results, especially being awarded the Most Outstanding Print. Thank you to all involved.” Said Anne.

The official opening and awards presentation on Saturday, October 9 was featured at the Walk on the Wildside Weekend, and saw eleven different photographers awarded for their images this year.

In its fourth year, the competition attracted a high standard of photographs, with a record number of Under 18 entrants, many that were entered thanks to the involvement of the Boyup Brook District High School.

“It was really special to also see that there were three Under 18 entrants who took out prizes in their respective categories as well,” said Boyup Brook CRC Project Officer, Sharon Lampard.

All of this year’s Under 18 winners were Henry Openshaw, Imogen Mead, Brooke Nield, Hamish Murphy and Heidi Corker.

The full week of the exhibition saw more than 160 visitors to the CRC, and the 131 People’s Choice Award votes were tallied at the conclusion of the event with Don Railton’s image ‘Curious Emu’ winning.

All of the prizes for the competition were sponsored by local businesses, a sincere thank you to: Boyup Brook Lions Club; Shire of Boyup Brook; Boyup Brook Co-op; Blackwood Plant Hire; Hampton Partners and Bluestone Café.
